BULETIN TEKSTIL.COM/ Jakarta -Ecoprint, a colouring technique using natural materials is now getting popular and developed.

According to Sharlene Bohr, ecoprint is a printing technique involving natural sources such as plants, leaves, and flowers. In Indonesia itself, ecoprint is uncommon.

Below is the interview documentation

Q: How much is the failure percentage of the print since the knowledge of the materials is limited?

A: The failure depends on the work. For example, there should be no dripping in the squeezing process, colouring, and binding process. The failure rate of the printing is around 25% but it can also be both reduced or increased depends on the work.

Q: Has any further research done regarding the measurement of the natural materials used in Ecoprint? Are there any effects on its users since the skin’s sensitivity of each individual is different?

A: I have never taken part in any research, but personally I have used one of the leaves that gives itchy effect, but after going through the washing process, the leaf-printed fabric no longer has any effect on the skin.
